What is your lash extension made of?
Faux mink and Silk are the two types of lash extensions. Each extension has a different characteristic and overall look, so let’s get right to it. The extensions all come in the same size range, which is 6mm-17mm. The curls are the same across the board within the types of lashes. Faux mink are first up to discuss.
Faux mink are very light weight and mimic actual mink fur (yes, it’s fake, we’re animal cruelty free here!). They feel silky, soft, and fine which is an imitation of your natural lash. Out of the two lash extension types, they are the lightest and apply the least amount of pressure to your natural lash. The whimsical fluffy lash calls for a longer application time, but the time spent is well worth it. The feathery, soft look that the faux mink gives a classic set a glamorous flare. This extension is the priciest of the trio. The next extension is silk.
A set of silk classic lashes are slightly less expensive than the faux mink, but still give an elegant look. They are made of a raw silk fiber. This lash is a mid-weight. Also, the better option if you are trying to achieve a natural look. I suggest this type of lash for clients whose natural lashes are weak. They hold just as long as the faux mink lash extension.
Each lash extension is similar, but their slight differences help figure out which lash gives you the look you desire. Lashes are not inexpensive but caring for them properly and scheduling refills regularly will keep your lashes longer and cut costs in the long run. I always ask my clients what their budget for beauty is before giving my suggestions on the type of set they want installed. Taking care of your natural lashes is important too. Take a minute to examine the differences in the photos above. When you go to your next or first lash appointment ask to touch the two different samples to better understand the differences. I hope this helped clear up any more hesitations when getting lashes installed.
Have a fabuLASH day!
