They may seem trivial or even like common sense but following all five of the steps will ensure lash retention for three to four weeks. No one wants to walk around with large gaps between their lash extensions a week after they have been installed.

Gently brushing your lashes after washing your face or showering with your lash wand is key to keeping your extensions from tangling and sticking together. I provide my clients with lash wands after their first appointment and upon request.

Don’t be afraid to get your lashes wet. Consult with your lash artist about the type of adhesive used on your lashes. I use waterproof glue to guarantee your lashes are secure through showers or tears. Wetting your lashes also helps keeping them clean.

Avoid rubbing and pulling on the lash extensions. It is common for clients to feel the need to rub their eyes. Opting for allergy drops to alleviate itchiness may help this difficult task.

Use silk pillowcases for your pillows. Not only do they help your skin and hair, silk pillowcases allow your lashes to last longer. Cotton may cause lashes to get caught and are a rougher material. Avoid sleeping on your face to maintain lash length.

Avoid oil-based facial products and makeup removers. If you must use them, carefully blot around the eyes and never on the eyelids. Oil based products loosen the adhesive used to apply lashes. Using oil-based products may result in quicker loss of lash extensions.
